Stoneway Restorations: Introduction
When collectors think of Half-A restorations, the first subject to come to mind is usually the immortal Cox RR-1. During the past three years, we've restored more than thirty of these priceless, brightly colored treasures! We are very committed to quality, and every effort is made to retain bearing clearances and original profiles during the tedious, often "white-knuckle" stripping, refinishing and re-anodizing process. Not one-thousandth of an inch of metal is ever removed unnecessarily from a customer's prized possession. Piece by piece, fin by fin, we treat them like they were ours, so you can be proud to call them yours!

The three shown above are the newest restorations to leave our shop. They arrived in rough form, along with a parts "donor" engine, from a collector in California, and now grace his prized display shelf. The yellow-block version was very ragged, and required a total refinishing of all external surfaces, and new color-anodizing in Cox yellow and "Olympic" blue. One of the first-generation silver-block motors was not too bad, requiring mainly a re-do of the tank, cylinder and head. The other was a "partial" requiring a complete ground-up refurbishing (including replacement of incorrect parts) and we converted it to left-hand rotation in the process. All three of these are not only beautiful, but sound, and ready to be run if desired!

Vintage-style packaging is also a specialty of Stoneway, and these sparkling "factory-fresh" jewels now rest in classic period display and storage boxes complete with meticulously replicated original RR-1 instruction sheets.

Friends, this is as close as you can get to stepping back into a 1955 hobby shop, and coming home with new merchandise!
